Captures Studio 1.0: Create & Share 3D Gaussian Splat Experiences in Your Browser

After months of iteration, lots of mistakes, and a few breakthroughs, we're excited to officially launch Captures Studio 1.0.0 โ€” our best attempt yet at making high-quality 3D Reconstruction and interactive 3D experiences faster, easier, and more accessible for every team.

Captures Studio is a unified platform with everything you need to turn any scene or object into an interactive 3D experience:

  • ๐Ÿ“ Create 3DGS from images and videos directly in your browser
  • ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Edit and enhance your 3D Gaussian splats
  • ๐Ÿงฉ Add interactive elements and create Immersive Experience
  • ๐ŸŒ Share instantly with one link No code. No setup. All in your browser.

Why We Built This

The goal behind Captures Studio has always been simple: make Gaussian Splatting accessible to everyone โ€” whether you're an individual just getting started or a team building spatial experiences at scale.

But getting into Gaussian Splatting today is anything but simple. It's a multi-step process that looks something like this:

  1. Get access to a PC with a powerful GPU
  2. Install and configure separate software โ€” Nerfstudio, Litchfeld Studio, or similar โ€” then capture and process your images or video into a reconstruction
  3. Clean up and refine the output using a tool like Supersplat
  4. Build, host, and share your interactive experience on another platform entirely

Four steps before anyone even sees your work. For anyone who just wants to quickly dip their toes into Gaussian Splatting, the process is cumbersome, fragmented, and frankly discouraging.

That's where Captures Studio comes in. We've brought the entire workflow under one roof โ€” no additional software, no hardware requirements, no context switching. Upload your images or videos and our cloud servers handle the reconstruction automatically. Or if you already have Gaussian Splats, simply upload them directly. Then create a new project and you're inside our Unified Editor.

  1. Edit and refine your splats
  2. Add interactive media โ€” images, videos, spatial audio, or meshes
  3. Create guided stories with viewpoints, narration, and transitions
  4. Share instantly with a single click and a single link

One editor. Everything in one place. No setup, no switching.

But our initial release didn't quite do it justice. The flow was confusing, the editor felt sluggish, and things were more complicated than they needed to be. So we went back to the drawing board โ€” a ground-up rethink of what the platform should look and feel like.

Release highlights

What's New in Version 1.0

01

Higher-Fidelity Reconstructions with Fewer Floaters

We've significantly improved the reconstruction engine. You'll see finer details and much less blurry surfaces. Geometry is tighter, especially on low-texture surfaces like walls and ceilings. Outdoor reconstructions also look much better, with improved handling of faraway objects. And with fewer floaters out of the box, you'll spend a lot less time on post-processing cleanup.

02

Faster Reconstructions, Shorter Wait Times

We've upgraded the reconstruction infrastructure to handle higher workloads. You'll notice significantly less queue time and quicker results โ€” less time waiting, more time creating.

03

Drag-and-Drop Upload for Any File Type

Asset upload is easier than ever. Just select your files โ€” images, videos, audio, meshes, or Gaussian Splats โ€” drag and drop, and you're done. They'll upload automatically. Simple as that.

04

One-Click Gaussian Splat Alignment

Gaussian Splats are not aligned by default โ€” and manually aligning them properly can be tedious. We've introduced auto-align, which automatically aligns your scene in one click. It works perfectly most of the time, and for the cases where it doesn't, we've built a simplified manual alignment tool that gets you there in just a few steps.

05

Redesigned UI โ€” Intuitive from the First Click

The previous interface threw everything at you at once โ€” overwhelming for new users and slow for everyone else. Key actions were buried, and finding your way around took more effort than it should. We've redesigned the UI to fix that. Actions are now grouped contextually, menus appear only when relevant, and the overall flow is much easier to navigate. We've also added undo-redo, so correcting mistakes is as simple as it should be.

06

Real-Time Editing โ€” Even on Complex Scenes

Editing larger scenes in the previous version was a frustrating experience โ€” the editor lagged, and every small change came with a delay. The optimized editor now responds instantly, with minimal latency even on complex scenes. We've also added a simple layer system to keep your edits organized and easier to manage.

07

Custom Branding for Agencies and Teams

We've introduced custom branding for paid users. You can now remove the Captures Studio watermark for a clean, unbranded viewer, or upload your own logo to make the experience feel completely yours. Ideal for agencies presenting to clients or teams embedding spatial content into their own product.

Just Getting Started

Gaussian Splatting is one of the most exciting breakthroughs in 3D technology in recent years. As adoption grows, we believe getting started with it should be easy and accessible to everyone โ€” not just those with the technical background to navigate the complexity. That's what Captures Studio is built for.

Version 1.0 is our biggest step yet toward that vision โ€” and we're just getting started.
